Writtle Tennis Club Newsletter - Feb 22

Welcome to first Writtle Tennis Club E-newsletter for 2022!

Club Survey

We have entered 2022 refreshed and re-energised! We are looking forward to a positive year and confident that Covid won't impact us like it has before.

A lot has happened over the last couple of years and our lives have somewhat changed. A few weeks ago you would have received a club survey from us. Our members feedback is very important to us. Please click on the link below to fill out our Writtle Tennis Club Survey if you haven't already.  Will only take a couple minutes. The deadline for this will be Friday 12th February.

By filling it out, you are also entering a prize draw to win a tennis lesson from Writtle Tennis Academy!

Junior members, of course, we want to hear from you as well. Please can parents give them a hand if needed. The form is shorter.

Doubles Leagues

We are having a successful winter so far in the Stock Winter League.

Multiple Writtle Teams are in the running for promotion next Winter season; or building on successes from previous season promotion.

Notably Men's 1 are chasing an unbeaten season; which if successful, will put Men's 1 in Division 1 next Winter.

Juniors are playing alongside the Adult members across Men's, Ladies and Mixed Teams.  Charlie and Holly are regulars in the Ladies and Mixed 2 Teams;  Fraser is consistently playing some great tennis for the Men's teams. Congratulations to them!

Despite all clubs having to rearrange many matches; due to illness, injury and circumstances all teams are accommodating each other and getting fixtures played.  Thanks to all the captains and team players!

Home matches are all booked on the online system; feel free to come along and spectate and support your teams.

Are you interested in playing in a squad, either in Mens, Ladies or Mixed teams? Get in contact with us on committee@writtletennisclub.com

League results can be followed here

Singles

For those who prefer to play singles, of course, we encourage members to get together and battle it out. Friendly matches can be arranged internally amongst members or you can join a ladder. Members have the opportunity to play in a singles ladder called Sportch. This is included in your membership. Well done to Josh Foster, Connor Baker and Jon Newbury who are current 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the club ladder. It is very tight though!

What's even better is that it is now open to Juniors!

Courts

You may have noticed a few issues with paint marks on the courts. No need to worry, the snagging for the court project is due to be done once the weather improves.

As you are most probably aware, the weather conditions have been extremely cold and very icy. It has been reported that the courts have a lot of ice (black ice) which makes them dangerous to play on. We strongly recommend you do not play on them in these conditions. Please thoroughly check the courts before playing to ensure that they are safe and do not put yourself at unnecessary risk of harm.

How do we keeps our courts looking so neat and tidy? Well Fraser works hard keeping them clean and hoovering every week. Thanks Fraser!

One last thing - please can all members help us with the bins. Please use all the bins appropriately, including the recycling bins and empty them when required. Thank you
