Week 10: Welcome back to WTC!

Week 10 – Welcome Back to WTC!

The day we felt impatient for arrived this Wednesday: spraying day!  It only took a few square metres of the paint to go down, for us to see that the new court colours would still perfectly reflect the modern, bright and vibrant nature of Writtle Tennis Club.  Thank you all for your patience over the last few weeks.  We hope you will agree that it has been worth it when you see the fabulous new courts.

We can return to our club courts from this Monday, 21st September.  Please note, that new courts need extra care to be taken with them.  There are new procedures and guidance in place; please ensure that you read the details HERE before using the courts.

Please note, there are still areas of the project that need to be completed such as the entrance, garden and the viewing platform. There is also a snagging list that the contractor is working through. There will also be temporary fencing up, so we thank you for your understanding during this period.

Here are a few photos of how the painting unfolded:

Masking tape, of varying thicknesses, was used to cover edging bricks and mark out court boundaries.

Spraying began. Each court received three coats, applied in a methodical and even spray pattern.

Dah-Dah!  Painting complete!

We got to work on the weeds around the entrance

A team effort to move windbreaks to offer protection on the pitch side.  New windbreaks will be installed, soon, on the track side.

Paving is being adjusted today, to give us a safe, accessible route from the new gate on to the courts.

Wednesday and Sunday social sessions are back!

!!! IMPORTANT – COVID – Track and Trace !!!

We are a COVID secure location.  This relies on all members following the guidance.  In order to meet Track and Trace requirements, you must book on to social tennis sessions.  You can access the booking facility via this link:

Club Schedule

As we come back to WTC, life is starting to come back to some form of normality (fingers crossed it keeps going) and as restrictions are being lifted we thought it would be helpful for you to see what our current schedule will look like, from Monday 21st September. Please note this is subject to change and is overall guidance. This does not highlight how many courts are in use etc. To view the schedule please click on the link.
