Week 9: WTC Court Project

Earlier in the week, the committee was delighted to receive an email enquiry from a member who has been missing the blog.  It is lovely to know that you are enjoying our posts – thank you! We haven’t updated for a few Fridays, as the newly laid courts have been curing, so there has not been much action to report.

Things have been different this week, however, and there has been much going on around the periphery of the courts, with work advancing on our smart, updated fencing.  Please see the photos at the end of this post.

We have been overwhelmed by the number of members who have made contact with us by email, phone and in person, regarding yesterday’s announcement about the need to change our court colours.  The majority of you have shared your sense of disappointment, a feeling that whole committee shares with you.  We are confident that the new courts will be contemporary and vibrant, and we are determined to get that pink in there somewhere!  We have been so happy with the level of engagement across all areas of our membership and hope that will continue in the same, positive way, in our new-look home.

This weekend is the last one we will have use of the courts at Writtle University College.  We would like to thank them for providing our club with a temporary home.

Please remember that there will be no club access to courts next week.

  1. Hi All
While I appreciate that some may be disappointed with the withdrawal of the Pink Court Option. I and many other members believe this choice was a massive mistake and are relieved that we are now going to be Blue Green.
I doubt any other club in the league would have taken us as a serious and professional club with Pink Courts.

I look forward to tennis back at the club once the project is complete.
    Cheers
    Norm

    1. Hi Norm,
Many thanks for your feedback. We are glad that you are pleased with the new court colours, which do look great! They certainly add the vibrancy that a lot of people were keen to introduce.
As you say, there has been a lot of disappointment with the withdrawal of the pink option, but the up-coming garden project will be one of the ways we will look to introduce some of the pink and keep the majority happy.
Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond to the blog.
      Best wishes,
      Sophie
